A Memoir Blue is an interactive story video game described by its developers as "an interactive poem". It depicts a fantastical version of swimming athlete Miriam 's childhood memories. Players progress through the story by interacting with objects in each scene and moving them around, like clicking on jellyfish that light up or stamping a train ticket. The game utilizes a mixture of 2D and 3D animations, where Miriam 's childhood memories are represented in 2D, and Miriam in present day is represented in 3D. Reception: Metacritic score:66 / 100 (PS4), 71 / 100 (PS5), 75 / 100 (XSX) Nintendo Life score: 4 / 10 The Guardian score: 4 / 5 Shacknews score: 7 / 10 Simon Parkin of The Guardian praised the game for feeling deeply personal and wrote, "...it achieves that miraculous narrative trick of making the specific feel universally approachable." Ozzie Mejia of Shacknews gave the game a 7 out of 10, lauding the game's art style, narrative, and soundtrack while noting that the story could have offered more and that puzzle design was overly simplistic. In a negative review, Stuart Gipp of Nintendo Life gave the game 4 stars out of 10 and criticized the unremarkable premise, unengaging gameplay, and lackluster story while commending its visuals. My first impression about the game could be a bit superficial after I play it at full speed . My first feeling about the game was that the gameplay is missing almost completely even for an interactive story. The player interact very little with the game only using a mouse click now and then to advance through the story which could be insufficient for a player who seek more challenge. The good part of the game is the short but moving story of Miriam , a swimming athlete whose childhood memories are depicted in a fantastical manner. And another good, if not the best side of the game is the surrounding atmosphere created with the help of the background music. Here is my personal rating for each department of the game: Gameplay: 2.5 / 5 Story: 1.7 / 5 Characters: 1 / 5 Video: 2 / 5 Audio: 3 / 5 UI: 2.2 / 5 Wikipedia contributors. "A Memoir Blue." - Dotemu
Dotemu Formerly Name: N/A Company Profile: Developer & Publisher Company Type:: Subsidiary Parent Company: Focus Entertainment (2021) Headquarters: Paris, France Founded: 2007 Founder: Xavier Liard Romain Tisserand Fate: Active Dotemu SAS (originally DotEmu SAS ) is a French video game developer and publisher based in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, best known for its remasters and remakes of old games. Dotemu was founded by Xavier Liard and Romain Tisserand in 2007. The company's offices are located in Paris, close to the Folies Bergère. In April 2010, Dotemu launched a new digital distribution service that would sell games without digital rights management, akin to Good Old Games. In March 2017, Dotemu announced that their online store would be closed down on 1 June that year. The company cited a too strong market competition and their focus shifting towards game development rather than game distribution. In September 2015, Liard and Tisserand sold their company to an unnamed, private investor. Later that month, they founded a new video game publisher, Playdigious (who would later publish Dotemu ’s games on mobile platforms). Subsequently, in October 2014, Cyrille Imbert was appointed as Dotemu 's chief executive officer. In March 2018, Dotemu announced the creation of The Arcade Crew , a publishing label that would support small development teams. In August 2021, the company was acquired by Focus Home Interactive (now Focus Entertainment ) for approximately €38.5 million (US$46 million). Wikipedia contributors. "Dotemu." Devolver Digital Formerly Name: N/A Company Profile: Publisher Company Type:: Public Company Parent Company: N/A Headquarters: Austin, Texas, USA Founded: 25 June 2009 Founder: Nigel Lowrie Harry Miller Graeme Struthers Rick Stults Mike Wilson Fate: Active Devolver Digital, Inc. is an American video game publisher based in Austin, Texas, specializing in the publishing of indie games. The company was founded in June 2009 by Nigel Lowrie, Harry Miller, Graeme Struthers, Rick Stults, and Mike Wilson, five executives who had been involved with Gathering of Developers and Gamecock Media Group , which published games on developer-friendly terms, but due to the high cost associated with releasing retail games saw themselves acquired and dissolved by larger companies. To avoid this, Devolver Digital instead turned to digital distribution channels. Devolver Digital started by publishing high-definition remakes of games in the Serious Sam series. After success with these remakes and spin-off games based on the series, Devolver Digital began publishing games from other, smaller independent studios, one of the first being their breakout title, Hotline Miami .
