This game and the original Raiden were rekeased for the PlayStation as The Raiden Project. Wikipedia contributors. "Raiden II. " Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia. Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia. 7 May, 2023. Gameplay : Pro: It's a complex combat stage filled with a high variety of attacks. The weapons are pretty accurate. Con: The game interaction is limited to shooting down enemies and grab the rewards. Your movements are limited by the screen borders. Story : The events take place three years after VCD repelled the invasion of the Crystals in the first game of the series. The battlefied alternates between Earth and the cosmic space over eight stages of the game. Pro: The story is dull and very short. Con: The scenario where you eradicate entire enemy forces is not very believable. And, of course, your mission is to destroy every possible enemy on the map. The dificulty of the combat actions could become frustrating over time because of too many enemies. Characters : It's just you and your combat airship Fighting Thuinder. Your ship can be destroyed by any enemy hit or collide. But do not worry, because you still have few reserves (max 9 credits x 3 lifes each one) of your ship. When the last of your ships is destroyed, your mission also fails. As weapons you can use three automatic guns loaded with different kinds of ammunition, two missile launchers and two types of bombs. While the auto-guns and missiles have unlimited ammunition, you can carry only a limited number of bombs. The bombs are special weapons that deal a huge damage over a wide area and cancel out enemy fire. Pro: The enemies have a high variety of units and arsenal. Con: Your gear consist of ship's active weapons and nothing more. There are no other NPCs except the swarming enemies. The enemy's increase number of units over time makes the combat mission more dificult and, eventually, will end with much frustration. Video : Pro: The design of the combat units is very diversified. The textures are pretty good taking in consideration the old generation of the game engine. Con: The game engine provide poor shadows and light reflections. Audio : Pro: N/A Con: A very low quality of the sound and background music. User Interface : Pro: Works just fine on Windows. Con: A simple menu with no artistic presentation. There is no game controller option for the Windows version. Previous Next

  • Unreal Engine | Game House Atreides

Unreal Engine is a 3D computer graphics game engine Top of Page Unreal Engine v1 Uneral Engine 4 unreal engine Software Type: G ame Engine Developer: Epic Games Launch Date: 1998 (Unreal) Currently Supported Platform: multi-platform Unreal Engine (UE) is a 3D computer graphics game engine developed by Epic Games , first showcased in the 1998 first-person shooter game Unreal . Initially developed for PC first-person shooters, it has since been used in a variety of genres of games and has seen adoption by other industries, most notably the film and television industry. Unreal Engine is written in C++ and features a high degree of portability, supporting a wide range of desktop, mobile, console, and virtual reality platforms. UNREAL ENGINE ver. 1 The first-generation Unreal Engine w as developed by Tim Sweeney, the founder of Epic Games . Having created editing tools for his shareware games ZZT (1991) and Jill of the Jungle (1992), Sweeney began writing the engine in 1995 for the production of a game that would later become a first-person shooter known as Unreal . At first, the engine relied completely on software rendering, meaning the graphics calculations were handled by the central processing unit (CPU). However, over time, it was able to take advantage of the capabilities provided by dedicated graphics cards, focusing on the Glide API , specially designed for 3dfx accelerators. While OpenGL and Direct3D were supported, they reported a slower performance compared to Glide due to their deficiency in texture management at the time. Among its features were collision detection, colored lighting, and a limited form of texture filtering. It also integrated a level editor, UnrealEd, that had support for real-time constructive solid geometry operations as early as 1996, allowing mappers to change the level layout on the fly. Even though Unreal was designed to compete with id Software (developer of Doom and Quake ), co-founder John Carmack complimented the game for the use of 16-bit color and remarked its implementation of visual effects such as volumetric fog. "I doubt any important game will be designed with 8-bit color in mind from now on. Unreal has done an important thing in pushing toward direct color, and this gives the artists a lot more freedom," he said in an article written by Geoff Keighley for GameSpot. "Light blooms [the spheres of light], fog volumes, and composite skies were steps I was planning on taking, but Epic got there first with Unreal," he said, adding: "The Unreal engine has raised the bar on what action gamers expect from future products. The visual effects first seen in the game will become expected from future games." In addition to being available on Windows , Linux, Mac and Unix, the engine was ported through Unreal Tournament to the PlayStation 2 and, with the help of Secret Level , to the Dreamcast . UNREAL ENGINE ver. 4 In August 2005, Mark Rein, the vice-president of Epic Games , revealed that Unreal Engine 4 had been in development for two years. "People don't realise this but we're already two years into development of Unreal Engine 4 . It certainly doesn't have a full team yet, it's just one guy and you can probably guess who that guy is," he told C&VG. One of the major features planned for UE4 was real-time global illumination using voxel cone tracing, eliminating pre-computed lighting. However, this feature, called Sparse Voxel Octree Global Illumination (SVOGI) and showcased with the Elemental demo, was replaced with a similar but less computationally expensive algorithm due to performance concerns. UE4 also includes the new "Blueprints" visual scripting system (a successor to UE3 's "Kismet"), which allows for rapid development of game logic without using code, resulting in less of a divide between technical artists, designers, and programmers. On March 19, 2014, at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) , Epic Games released Unreal Engine 4 through a new licensing model. For a monthly subscription at US$19, developers were given access to the full version of the engine, including the C++ source code, which could be downloaded via GitHub. Any released product was charged with a 5% royalty of gross revenues. The first game released using Unreal Engine 4 was Daylight , developed with early access to the engine and released on April 29, 2014. To prepare for the release of its free-to-play battle royale mode in Fortnite in September 2017, Epic had to make a number of Unreal Engine modifications that helped it to handle a large number (up to 100) of connections to the same server while still retaining high bandwidth and to improve the rendering of a large open in-game world. Epic said it would incorporate these changes into future updates of the Unreal Engine . Unreal Engine 4 officially supports the following platforms as of 4.27 (August 2021): Windows , macOS , Linux , iOS , Android , Nintendo Switch , PlayStation 4 , Xbox One , PlayStation 5 , Xbox Series X/S , Stadia , Magic Leap , HTC Vive , Oculus , PlayStation VR , OSVR , Samsung Gear VR , and HoloLens 2 . It formerly supported Google Daydream and HTML5 . Source: Wikipedia contributors. "Unreal Engine." Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia. Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia, 27 May. 2023. Stadia was capable of streaming video games to players from the company's numerous data centers at up to 4K resolution and 60 frames per second, with support for high-dynamic-range (HDR) video. It offered the option to purchase games from its store, along with a selection of free-to-play games. While the base service was free and allowed users stream at resolutions up to 1080p, a Stadia Pro monthly subscription allowed for a maximum resolution of 4K, 5.1 surround sound, HDR, and offered a growing collection of free games that—once claimed—remained in the user's library whenever they had an active subscription. Both tiers allowed users to play online multiplayer games without any additional costs. Stadia was integrated with YouTube , and its "state share" feature allowed players to launch a supported game from a save state shared by another player via permalink. The service supported Google's proprietary Stadia game controller, along with various non-Stadia controllers through USB and Bluetooth connections. While Stadia could use any HID-class USB controller, Google developed its own controller, which connected via the user's Wi-Fi directly to the Google data center in which the game was running, to reduce input latency. Google was also exploring further ways to reduce latency, involving the prediction of user input through various means, so that any apparent network lag between controller and game response was minimized. Google confirmed that the controller would also feature Google Assistant , which would automatically search YouTube for relevant, helpful videos related to the game the user was playing. Stadia offered two tiers of service: a free level (initially at launch known as "Stadia Base" but after April 2020, simply "Stadia"), and a monthly subscription Stadia Pro level. The free Stadia level limited the video stream resolution to 1080p. The Pro tier, costing approximately US$10 per month, allowed users higher streaming rates, up to 4K resolution, access to a library of free games over time, and discounts on other games offered for Stadia. • ROGUE-LITE | Game House Atreides

Rogue-lite are those video games with some of the Berlin Interpretation elements call themselves "roguelike", but bear little resemblance to the original Rogue rogue-lite With computers and video game consoles capable of more advanced graphics and gameplay, numerous games have emerged that are loosely based on the classic roguelike design but diverge in one or more features. Many of these games use the concepts of procedurally generated maps and permadeath, while moving away from tile-based movement and turn-based gameplay, often using another gameplay genre such as action games or platformers. Other titles deriving from roguelike games are based on the observation that the traditional roguelikes are difficult with a steep learning curve, and a player may never complete these games over numerous play sessions, making these titles difficult to sell to a broader audience. These new games would include elements to reduce the difficulty as to draw in a larger audience. Many games with some of the Berlin Interpretation elements call themselves "roguelike ", but bear little resemblance to the original Rogue , causing confusion and dilution of the term. Some players of the Berlin Interpretation roguelikes disliked the dilution of the term, believing that in the 1990s and 2000s, the term "roguelikes " served well to distinguish games that forwent aesthetics to focus on depth of gameplay from games more comparable to interactive movies, particularly games that incorporated real-time gameplay elements which tended to reduce the game's complexity. As such, the term "rogue-lite " or "roguelike-like " has been used by some to distinguish these games that possess some, but not all, of the Berlin Interpretation features from those that exactly meet the Berlin roguelike definition. The phrase "procedural death labyrinth " has also been applied to such games, as they retain the notion of permadeath and random level generation but lack the other high-value factors normally associated with roguelike games. Rogue-lites favor short gameplay runs with victory conditions, in contrast to some traditional roguelikes that can be played indefinitely. The shortness of a single gameplay run in rogue-lites can motivate players to continually replay the game in the hope of reaching completion, making replayability a high-value factor in these types of games. Game journalist Joshua Bycer observed that several games considered as rogue-lites feature fixed events, even if the means to reach that may be through procedural generation, whereas a roguelike game typically lacks this level of predictability. For example, several rogue-lites require the player to travel a fixed number of biomes, each which culminates in a boss fight, such as Rogue Legacy . Associated with their short length, many rogue-lites feature a metagame , whereby achieving certain goals will unlock persistent features such as the ability to select a new character at the start of the game or the addition of new items and monsters in the procedural generation of the game's levels. Alternatively, each run through rogue-lite may be to collect resources which one then advances their character within the metagame, and a player may simply forgo a complete run once they have collected sufficient materials for that advancement. Several r ogue-lites feature daily challenges, in which a preset random seed is used to generate the game's levels in a deterministic fashion so that each player will have the same encounters; players attempt to complete the game through those levels or otherwise get the highest score through online leaderboards. Rogue-lites may also allow the player to enter the random seed directly as to be able to rechallenge the same set of levels or share a difficult set of levels with other players. android Developer : Google, Open Handset Alliance OS Family : Unix-like Release Date : September 23, 2008 Platforms : ARM64 ARMv7 x86 x86-64 MIPS RISC-V User Interface: multi-touch graphical user interface Android is a mobile operating system based on a modified version of the Linux kernel and other open-source software, designed primarily for touchscreen mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. Android is developed by a consortium of developers known as the Open Handset Alliance, though its most widely used version is primarily developed by Google. It was unveiled in November 2007, with the first commercial Android device, the HTC Dream, being launched in September 2008. At its core, the operating system is known as the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and is free and open-source software (FOSS) primarily licensed under the Apache License. However, most devices run on the proprietary Android version developed by Google, which ships with additional proprietary closed-source software pre-installed, most notably Google Mobile Services (GMS) which includes core apps such as Google Chrome, the digital distribution platform Google Play, and the associated Google Play Services development platform. Firebase Cloud Messaging is used for push notifications. While AOSP is free, the "Android" name and logo are trademarks of Google, which imposes standards to restrict the use of Android branding by "uncertified" devices outside their ecosystem. Over 70 percent of smartphones based on the Android Open Source Project run Google's ecosystem (which is known simply as Android ), some with vendor-customized user interfaces and software suites, such as TouchWiz and later One UI by Samsung and HTC Sense. Competing ecosystems and forks of AOSP include Fire OS (developed by Amazon), ColorOS by Oppo, OriginOS by Vivo, MagicUI by Honor, or custom ROMs such as LineageOS. The source code has been used to develop variants of Android on a range of other electronics, such as game consoles, digital cameras, portable media players, and PCs, each with a specialized user interface. Some well-known derivatives include Android TV for televisions and Wear OS for wearables, both developed by Google. Software packages on Android, which use the APK format, are generally distributed through proprietary application stores like Google Play Store, Amazon Appstore, Samsung Galaxy Store, Huawei AppGallery, Cafe Bazaar, GetJar, and Aptoide, or open source platforms like F-Droid.
