Gungrave G.O.R.E Personal Rating: Previous Release Date: Game Version: Platform: 2022, November 22 Main Title Microsoft Windows Next Shooter Button Genre Element: Run-and-Gun Shooter, Arcade, RPG Pont-of-View: Third-Person Camera: Free Player Mode: Single-Player Storyline: Linear Theme: Science-Fiction Action Developer: DIGIC Pictures, Red Entertainment, Studio IGGYMOB Button Publisher: Prime Matter Button Game Engine: Unreal Engine 4 Button Maximum Resolution: 3440x1440 Native Display Ratio: 16:9 Recommended PC Configuration: CPU: Intel Core i7-6700 RAM: 16 GB GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 HDD: 30 GB OS: Windows 11 DirectX: - Media Support: - Gungrave G.O.R.E ( Gunslinger of REsurrection ) is the fourth video game entry in Gungrave series following the last events in Gungrave VR (2017). Players control Beyond the Grave as he attempts to kill the Raven Clan, who are distributing Seed, a drug which transforms its users into monsters and was thought have been eradicated. Players can shoot enemies with dual pistols, swing Beyond the Grave's coffin to hit nearby enemies, and use several special abilities, such as grabbing enemies to use them as a human shield. If Beyond the Grave avoids moving, he can do extra damage. Additional attacks are unlocked if players continue killing enemies without any pauses in the action. The game comes with a narrative History in the main menu which offer an update of the gamestory so is not necessary to have played the previous games in the series. Reception: Metacritic score: 57 / 100 (PC), 57 / 100 (PS5), 56 / 100 (XSX) IGN score: 6 / 10 Push Square score: 4 / 10 Digitally Downloaded score: 1.5 / 5 Although praising its style and combat, IGN said it does not live up to its potential because of too-similar enemies, difficulty spikes, and "often-frustrating design decisions". Hardcore Gamer said it can be "basic and repetitive" but recommended it for players who are looking for something they can play without thinking. Push Square said it "genuinely feels like a lost PS2 game" but recommended it only to fans of the series. Digitally Downloaded 's reviewer found it to live up a longtime fantasy of playing a nearly-immortal protagonist in a series of highly stylistic action sequences but found the result to be a terrible game. The game is a third-person shooter but with strong elements of run-and-gun shooter and some of arcade and RPG features. The effort of the developers to revamp the series is visible but the plot is about the same game series theme: fighting the Seed drug dealers and the drug users turned into monsters. The level design is good but could have been more diverse, while the movement controls are not very friendly with the keyboard+mouse users. One of the good things in the game is the user interface which is well built. Other positive things are the charismatic characters and game graphics (despite the less quality of characters mesh). What I praise the most are the cinematics, a great work of DIGIC Pictures. Overall, my ratings for each game department are: Gameplay: 2.2 / 5 Story: 2.1 / 5 Characters: 3.1 / 5 Video: 3.7 / 5 Audio: 1.5 / 5 UI: 3.9 / 5. Wikipedia contributors. "Gungrave G.O.R.E." Dead Space Personal Rating: Previous Release Date: Game Version: Platform: Button 2008, October 13 Main Title Microsoft Windows Next Action Horror Button Genre Element: Role-playing Game Point-of-View: Third-person Theme: Science Fiction Horror Storyline: Linear Camera: Free Player Mode: Single-player Developer: EA Redwood Shores Button Publisher: Electronic Arts Button Game Engine: Dead Space Engine Button Maximum Resolution: 3440x1440 (100 Hz) Native Display Ratio: 21:9 Recommended PC Configuration: CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E4400 2GHz / AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+ RAM: 2 GB GPU: Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT / AMD Radeon HD 2600 XT HDD: 7 GB OS: Windows XP 32-bit DirectX: 9 Media Support: - Dead Space is the first entry in the series with the same name developed by EA Redwood Shores and published by Electronic Arts . The story is set on a mining spaceship overrun by deadly monsters called Necromorphs following the discovery of an artifact called the Marker, the player controls engineer Isaac Clarke as he navigates the spaceship and fights the Necromorphs while struggling with growing psychosis. Gameplay has Isaac exploring different areas through its narrative, solving environmental puzzles and finding ammunition and equipment to survive. Dead Space is set in the year 2508, a time when humanity has spread throughout the universe. Following near-extinction of humans on Earth due to resource shortages, ships dubbed "Planetcrackers" are being used to harvest resources from barren planets. The oldest Planetcracker is the USG Ishimura , which is performing an illegal mining operation on the planet Aegis VII. The backstory reveals that Aegis VII was the home of a "Red Marker", a manmade copy of the original alien Marker monolith discovered on Earth. Attempts to weaponise the Marker and its copies led to the creation of a virus-like organism that infected corpses and transformed them into undead creatures called Necromorphs. Two key factions in Dead Space are the Earth Government, which created and then hid the Red Markers, and Unitology, a religious movement that worships the Markers. Unitology was founded in the name of original researcher Michael Altman. Dead Space, released in 2008, utilized the proprietary game engine called the "Dead Space Engine," which was developed by EA Redwood Shores (now known as Visceral Games). This engine was specifically crafted to create the atmospheric and immersive experience that Dead Space is known for. Some key features of the Dead Space Engine included: Real-Time Lighting and Shadows : The engine supported advanced lighting and shadow effects, crucial for creating the eerie and dark atmosphere of the game's space setting. Seamless Loading : Dead Space utilized a seamless loading system, where players could move between different areas of the game without encountering traditional loading screens, enhancing immersion. Dynamic Dismemberment System : One of the distinctive features of Dead Space was its focus on dismemberment as a core gameplay mechanic. The engine allowed for dynamic dismemberment of enemies, contributing to the game's visceral combat experience. Zero Gravity and Vacuum : The engine enabled the implementation of zero-gravity environments and vacuum sections, adding variety to gameplay and enhancing the feeling of being in space. Responsive Controls and Animation : The engine facilitated responsive controls and fluid animations, crucial for delivering a smooth and immersive gameplay experience. Overall, the Dead Space Engine played a significant role in bringing the chilling atmosphere and intense gameplay of Dead Space to life. Reception: Metacritic score: 88 / 100 (PS3), 89 / 100 (X360), 86 / 100 (PC) Computer and Video Games score: 9.1 / 10 Eurogamer score: 7 / 10 Game Informer score: 9.25 / 10 GamePro score: 5 / 5 GameSpot score: 9 / 10 GameTrailers acore: 8.8 / 10 IGN score: 8.7 / 10 Upon release, Dead Space earned critical acclaim from many journalists. Matt Leone of 1Up.com praised its innovations in third-person gameplay, though faulted several elements that felt like padding. Computer and Video Games 's Matthew Pellett was similarly positive about the gameplay and lore, though wishing for more zero-G sections and again faulting its length. Dan Whitehead, writing for Eurogamer , enjoyed the experience despite some frustrating design elements and other parts that clashed with the horror aesthetic. Andrew Reiner of Game Informer enjoyed his time with the game, praising its committent to horror elements and gameplay elements. In a second opinion, Joe Juba called it "the premiere accomplishment in survival horror since Resident Evil 4 ". GamePro gave the game a perfect score, praising almost every aspect of the experience except for a lack of additional gameplay modes. Lark Anderson of GameSpot praised the enemy design and behavior, praising it as being able to stand out within the survival horror genre. GameTrailers was positive about the game's use of both many horror tropes and its references to other horror and science fiction properties, saying players would be compelled to push on despite the disturbing atmosphere. IGN 's Jeff Haynes faulted some overpowered mechanics and frustrating New Game+ elements, but generally praised it as an enjoyable new title in the genre. My personal opinion about the game is very appreciative. I rank Dead Space as one of the best survival horror game ever made with a captivating gameplay, original characters and brilliant graphics for their time. The characters have a rich personality and they fit perfectly in the gamestory. Maybe the story is not at the same quality level with the characters design and the gameplay, but still the plot has an interesting progress and the 12 hours that I spent in Dead Space were totally worthwhile.
